Docent Opportunities
The Newman Historical Society is currently recruiting members for docent duty at the Newman City Museum. We're looking for members who can staff the museum during one of the shifts when we are open to the public (Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday, 1pm-3pm).
Below is the job description for this volunteer opportunity (please enquire with Mary Vaz Moore or Debbie Allan to apply):
Our museum docents are trained volunteers who provide services to the museum & its visitors
Docents are responsible for many tasks, including:
Greeting Visitors: Welcoming visitors and providing a welcoming atmosphere
Leading Tours: Conducting tours of the museum
Interpreting Exhibits: Helping visitors understand historical context and significance
Answering Questions: Providing information to visitors and answering their questions
Assisting with Events: Helping with public programs and other events
Preserving Collections: Providing security in exhibition areas
Processing Donations: Cataloging and curating donated materials
Some qualities that make a good docent include:

Good Communication Skills
Works Well with People
Required Qualifications:
Age 18+
Responsible
Mature
NHS Member
